Trump Responds to Prince Harry’s Ukraine Remarks
US President Donald Trump has said that Prince Harry does not represent the United Kingdom after the Duke of Sussex urged stronger American leadership on Ukraine. Trump suggested that he understands the UK position better than Prince Harry does.
Trump made the comments while reacting to the Duke’s recent visit to Kyiv and his speech on international security and Ukraine’s sovereignty.
Prince Harry Calls for Stronger Global Support for Ukraine
During his unannounced trip to Ukraine, Prince Harry highlighted the importance of international commitments to Ukraine’s security. He pointed out that when Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons, global powers, including the United States, helped guarantee its independence and borders.
He said the United States plays a key role in maintaining global stability and should uphold its responsibilities under international agreements.
His visit came shortly after he and Meghan Markle completed a private trip to Australia.
Trump Questions Harry’s Role in UK Representation
When asked about the Duke’s remarks, Trump responded with a mix of humor and criticism. He asked how Prince Harry and Meghan were doing before stating that Harry was not speaking for the UK.
He added that he believed his own understanding of the UK position was stronger than Harry’s. At the same time, Trump said he appreciates Harry’s advice.
Comments Ahead of Royal Visit
Trump also spoke about his upcoming meeting with King Charles and Queen Camilla during their state visit. He said he expects a positive visit and described the King as a friend.
He added that the guests at the visit would be people who respect the United Kingdom, and he expressed his own admiration for the country.
Trump’s Views on UK Energy and Immigration
During the same remarks, Trump also shared opinions on UK policy. He suggested that Britain should increase energy production from the North Sea near Aberdeen.
He also criticized the UK approach to immigration, saying it needs improvement.
