ISLAMABAD: According to reliable sources, Zulfiqar Ahmed, the Director General (DG) of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), was fired from his position for obtaining a phony degree.
This happened days after his appeal against the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) decision to revoke his equivalent certificate was denied by the IHC.
According to the sources, Nadra terminated Ahmed’s services in accordance with the IHC’s decision and his inadequate response to the show-cause notice that was placed on him.
Among other things, Nadra instructed him to have his degree validated in 2018. To HEC, he gave them “verification of degrees in the sealed envelope.” According to The Guardian, this gave the impression that the verification certificates had been provided by the relevant universities and given to him in a sealed envelope for submission to HEC.
