MULTAN: In the second Test match against the West Indies, which begins on Saturday, head coach Aaqib Javed dismissed criticism of Pakistan’s reliance on spin bowling.

With spinners Sajid Khan collecting nine wickets, Noman Ali hitting six, and Abrar Ahmed taking five, Pakistan won the first Test by a total of 127 runs in three days. This was their third consecutive victory at home.

Jomel Warrican, a left-arm spinner for the West Indies, also claimed a career-high 7-32, with spinners taking 34 of the 40 wickets in the game.

The central city of Multan will host the second Test match on a grassless, dry field as well.

Analysts and former Pakistani players criticized the spin-heavy approach, claiming that the team will perform poorly on away trips.
