Russia’s war on Ukraine began with the “little green men” and ended with the full-scale invasion in 2022.
President Donald Trump’s peace plan now centers on the future of Crimea, which has led Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky to deny that Russia has any claim to the peninsula.
Although his plan’s precise details are unknown, rumors indicate that it would include the US acknowledging Crimea as a legitimate part of Russia, or de jure in Latin.
The southern Ukrainian peninsula was “lost years ago” and “is not even a part of discussion” in peace negotiations, according to Trump.
However, it would be unacceptable for Zelensky to reject Crimea as an inseparable part of Ukraine.
