Following India’s accusation that Pakistan was aiding militants responsible for an incident in Indian-administered Kashmir last week that claimed the lives of 26 tourists, Attaullah Tarar made these remarks. Islamabad denies the claims.
According to Tarar, “any such military adventurism by India would be responded to assuredly and decisively” and that the attack is a “false pretext” for an attack.
The Indian foreign ministry has been approached by the BBC for a statement.
The bloodiest assault on people in the disputed territory in 20 years occurred close to the tourist town of Pahalgam. The area is claimed by both India and Pakistan, who have fought two wars over it.
In recent days, troops on both sides have exchanged sporadic small-arms fire over the border.
