In a meeting with US President Donald Trump this week, Pakistan’s army chief expressed concerns that separatist and jihadist extremists on the Pakistan-Iran border may exploit any breakdown in Iranian authority.
On both sides of the 560-mile (900-kilometer) border, there are anti-Iranian and anti-Pakistan organizations active. Israel’s authorities have stated repeatedly that they want to topple or disrupt the Iranian government while they bomb Iran’s nuclear program.
Pakistan is worried about Israel’s precedent of attacking another nation’s nuclear installations in addition to the disruption that Iran may cause. India and Pakistan, rivals with nuclear weapons, engaged in a four-day battle in May.
