KARACHI: Because climate change is changing weather patterns, meteorologists have warned that this year’s monsoon might last until the end of September rather than the usual mid-September.
In southern Pakistan, where rainfall has been much less than in past years, experts observed that monsoon currents have so far had little effect.
They noted that the northern and upper regions, including portions of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, have been the main areas impacted by monsoon winds.
But beginning on August 10, they predict a change in wind direction toward the southern regions of the nation, which might enable the monsoon system to start impacting the area in mid-August.
