As the US president increased pressure on New Delhi to cease buying Russian oil, a senior Trump advisor charged Sunday that India was effectively funding Russia’s conflict in Ukraine by buying oil from Moscow.
“What he [Trump] stated very clearly is that it is unacceptable for India to continue financing this war by purchasing the oil from Russia,” declared Stephen Miller, one of Trump’s most powerful aides and the White House deputy chief of staff.
Regarding one of the United States’ most important Indo-Pacific allies, Miller’s condemnation was among the harshest yet from the Trump administration.
“When people discover that India and China are essentially connected in their purchases of Russian oil, they will be surprised.
