On Monday afternoon, officers were dispatched to a Bloomsbury street in response to complaints of possible welfare concerns.
When paramedics arrived on the scene, they too found the infant dead and were unable to revive him.
There is now an investigation underway, and inquiries are ongoing.
They took the man into jail, who was being held on suspicion of murder.
