In a scathing article published in the Times last November, the Conservative MP accused the force of applying “double standards” by permitting what she considered to be a “hate march” to take place in London on Armistice Day. She claimed that while pro-Palestinian “mobs” were “largely ignored,” right-wing protestors were “rightly met with a stern response.”
The legal threshold for a prohibition had not been met, therefore the Met stuck by its decision to allow the march to proceed. However, the public outcry culminated in terrible scenes, including a far-right protest near the Cenotaph and 140 arrests from both demonstrations.
A report on “activism and impartiality in the police” was requested at the time by Ms. Braverman, who was eventually fired by Rishi Sunak for intensifying her criticism.
However, when it was released on Tuesday, it criticized her behavior and stated that her critique ought to have been made in private.
