At the Hungarian Grand Prix meeting in Budapest on Tuesday, Mondo Duplantis of Sweden broke his own pole vault world record with a clearance of 6.29 meters. This is the 13th time he has set a new world record as he continues to defy gravity.
With his second attempt at the Istvan Gyulai Memorial, the double-Olympic champion broke the record he established in Stockholm in June, continuing his trend of breaking his previous record by one centimeter.
After Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis retired after failing twice at the same height, Duplantis had appeared somewhat out of form and missed his first try at 6.11m. The Swede then had the bar lifted for his customary effort at a world record.
