Real Madrid announced on Friday that center-back Antonio Ruediger had sustained a left thigh injury.
According to Spanish media, Ruediger, who started both of Germany’s World Cup qualifying games this month, was left off of Real Madrid’s roster for Saturday’s La Liga encounter against Real Sociedad.
“Following tests conducted on Toni Rüdiger by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the rectus femoris muscle in his left leg,” the statement read.
The duration of Ruediger’s absence was not disclosed by Real.
In order to repair a partial tear in the external meniscus, Ruediger, 32, had knee surgery in April. In June, the former Chelsea and Roma star made a comeback to competition at the Club World Cup.
