Punjab’s flood-affected areas have seen a substantial spike in patient numbers, and health officials have warned that this trend is likely to continue.
More than 33,000 people reported a variety of illnesses in the last day alone, bringing the total number of patients since the floods started to 755,000.
Significant increase in illnesses linked to flooding
The Punjab Health Department reports that 4,300 cases of fever, 4,000 cases of skin allergies, and 5,000 cases of respiratory issues occurred in the last 24 hours.
In addition, 1,900 episodes of diarrhea were reported, and 700 patients had treatment for eye infections. During this time, authorities also verified 20 dog bite instances and five snake bite cases.
