GUJRANWALA: After Japanese immigration officials discovered their falsified travel credentials and deported them, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested 22 individuals who are suspected of impersonating a professional football team.
Clad in football uniforms, the impersonators said they were registered with the Pakistan Football Federation and had games against a Japanese team scheduled.
However, the group was deported back to Pakistan after Japanese immigration officers discovered the deception after interrogation.
According to the FIA, Malik Waqas, the primary suspect, was taken into custody in Gujranwala after registering a phony football club under the name Golden Football Trial.
