On September 28, China will open the highest bridge in the world to traffic, making engineering history once more.
Soaring to an incredible 625 meters, the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge in Guizhou Province is higher than the famous World Trade Center in the United States.
Bridge engineering world records
By breaking two world records, the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge will achieve a significant milestone:
The world’s tallest bridge.
The biggest span bridge ever constructed over a mountain range.
With a primary span of 1,420 meters, the structure has a total length of 2,890 meters. The project, which cost about $283 million and was completed in just three years, demonstrated China’s increasing proficiency in large-scale building.
