According to a statement released by the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD) Seismic Network on Friday, a 5.5-magnitude earthquake rocked Islamabad and various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Peshawar, Attock, Chitral, and the surrounding areas were also affected by the tremors. However, there were no reports of damage or casualties from the activity.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD) National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC), the epicentre of the earthquake is in the Hindu Kush region, and it struck at a depth of 195 kilometers.
The area has been rocked by earthquakes a lot lately, particularly in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Records reveal earthquake activity in nearby nations that are situated where the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates converge.
The rocky eastern part of Afghanistan had a huge magnitude earthquake last month.
