Mario Lopez is embracing the holiday spirit with his new film, The Christmas Spark, a story that blends romance, personal growth, and a heartfelt tribute to firefighters.
Speaking with Access Hollywood, Lopez revealed that the project is especially meaningful to him after the devastating fires that hit Los Angeles earlier this year. “This film allowed us to honour firefighters and first responders in a beautiful way,” he shared.
In the movie, Lopez plays a corporate lawyer who feels overlooked and decides to make a bold change by joining his small town’s Fire Department. There, he faces rivalry from the son of a fallen hero while unexpectedly developing feelings for the young man’s widowed mother, portrayed by Ali Cobrin.
Lopez praised his co-stars Ali Cobrin and Charlie Besso, calling them “talented, genuine, and wonderful to work with,” adding that he hopes to collaborate with them again.
Reflecting on his character’s journey, Lopez said he enjoyed exploring a man navigating emotional challenges — maybe even a midlife crisis — as he rediscovers what truly matters. “This story taught me that you’re never too old to grow, learn, or try new things,” he added.
The Christmas Spark premiered on November 28, adding a meaningful and heartwarming story to this year’s holiday releases.
