Imagine your favorite song playing for your first dance. Now, imagine the original artist singing it live, just for you.
That was the reality for Demi Lovato and Jordan “Jutes” Lutes.
At their California wedding, the couple shared a moment straight out of a movie. Goo Goo Dolls frontman John Rzeznik performed their iconic 1998 hit, “Iris,” as they took to the floor as newlyweds.
A Moment of Pure Surprise
In an interview, Jutes described the feeling as surreal.
“Me and Demi were looking at each other like, ‘What’s going on right now?!’”
He called Rzeznik a “legend” for creating what he dubbed an “unforgettable” and “iconic” memory.
More Than a Soft Acoustic Song
Jutes expected a gentle version. He was stunned when Rzeznik delivered a full, powerful performance.
“He just ripped it. It was unreal.”
The performance was so powerful, friends still mention it. Jutes added, “I still can’t believe that actually happened.”
Lovato told Vogue it was a “pinch-us moment.” She confirmed the song holds deep, personal meaning for both of them.
Star-Studded Celebrations
The iconic first dance wasn’t the only highlight. Paris Hilton DJed the afterparty, with Lovato noting she “literally shook the dance floor.”
