West stated in the message that he did not seek sympathy or forgiveness without any effort. West said he hoped to gain public trust through accountability and changes.
US Newspapers Publish Full-Page Apology
West stated in the advertisement that he was not an antisemite or a Nazi. West apologized to Black people for his behavior, and said that he loved Jewish people.
After years of criticism over his offensive remarks, such as praise for Adolf Hitler or identifying himself a Nazi. The remarks did serious harm to both his public and professional image.
Controversial statements lead to career fallout
West removed his X account last February after widespread criticism. His Yeezy store closed around the same time after selling shirts with swastikas.
He released a single titled Heil Nazi in May of last year. Later, Australian authorities cancelled his visa because his wife Bianca Censori was Australian.
Adidas terminated its partnership with West due to antisemitic remarks in 2022. After the split, Adidas had a lot of Yeezys that were not sold until last year.
Kanye west blames brain injury and bipolar disorder
West attributed his behavior to a bipolar disorder of type 1, which, he claims, developed 25 years after a severe car accident. He said that his brain injury was not diagnosed until 2023.
This medical negligence, he said, harmed mental health in 2016 and led to his diagnosis of bipolar disorder.
Mental health and Manic Episodes
West said that in the early years of 2025, he had a manic four-month episode. He said that during this period he had lost his sense of reality and made decisions he regrets.
He acknowledged that he had hurt those close to him, and was no longer connected with his real self. He said that his wife had encouraged him at his lowest point to get professional help.
Concentrate on recovery and positive work
West has now returned to his treatment plan and is taking personal responsibility. West said he was focusing his creative energy on positive projects such as music, fashion and design.In his closing letter, he asked for understanding and patience as he worked toward recovery.
Antisemitic Campaigners’ Mixed Reactions
Campaign Against Antisemitism spokesperson responded with caution. The group said that repeated apology mean nothing if the harmful behavior continues.
The group added that a real change would include West educating the massive following he has online about how antisemitism is harmful. The time will tell if West is able to change or re-instate the same cycle.
