FBI releases surveillance images
The FBI has shared new door camera photos and video tied to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “TODAY” co anchor Savannah Guthrie. Investigators say the images show a masked individual outside her home shortly before she vanished.
According to the bureau, the person appears to be wearing gloves, a face covering and a backpack. In addition, the footage shows the individual reaching toward or tampering with the front door camera on the morning she was reported missing.
FBI Director Kash Patel said authorities believe the potential subject seen in the footage was armed. However, officials stressed that they have not formally identified any suspects or persons of interest at this time.
Timeline of the disappearance
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was dropped off at her residence outside Tucson, Arizona, on the night of Jan. 31. The next day, around midday on Feb. 1, she was reported missing.
Since then, federal agents have taken the lead in the investigation. The release of the Nancy Guthrie door camera photos marks a significant step as authorities seek help from the public.
At the same time, the FBI said it is not aware of any ongoing communication between the Guthrie family and anyone claiming responsibility. That update may narrow certain possibilities, although officials continue to examine all leads.
Investigation continues
For now, investigators have not confirmed whether the armed individual captured in the Nancy Guthrie door camera photos is directly connected to her disappearance. Still, the bureau described the person as a potential subject and urged anyone with information to come forward.
As the search continues, law enforcement agencies are reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses and analyzing digital evidence. Meanwhile, the family has not released additional public statements beyond acknowledging the active investigation.
Because the case remains open, authorities have shared limited details. Even so, the newly released images could play a key role in identifying the individual seen outside the home.
Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact federal investigators as they work to determine what happened.
