However, not everyone was as lucky as Carr during the Los Angeles fires, which claimed 29 lives in all. Some of the victims had also disregarded evacuation orders in order to defend their houses, despite authorities' pleas for thousands of residents to go. The goals of Leverkus' group, which the British Columbian government does not formally recognize, underscore simmering tensions between those who enforce evacuation orders and those who disobey them in fire-prone areas. According to our research, males are drawn to the possibility of financial gain more easily. Female investors "appear more likely to connect investing with real-life goals, from building emergency savings to looking after children," according to Jemma Slingo, pensions and investment specialist at Fidelity International. It's crucial to keep in mind that, due to the ongoing gender pay discrepancy, women in the UK often have less money to invest than men. Investing "needs to do a better job of making investing feel accessible, relevant, and connected to people's own goals and values," according to Macdonald.Women's long-term financial stability and the UK economy would both benefit from addressing this.

US Hotels Fear Weak World Cup Tourism as Bookings Fall Short Tourism expectations fail to match reality US hotels are worried the upcoming World Cup will not deliver the expected tourism boost. Many host cities are reporting lower-than-expected bookings, raising doubts about the event’s economic impact. A report from the American Hotel & Lodging Association shows demand is falling behind forecasts across most locations. The group represents more than 32,000 hotel properties and a large share of franchised hotels in the United States. Conflict between booking data and ticket sales The association says hotel demand does not match FIFA’s claim that over five million tickets have already been sold. It warns that the expected financial gains from the tournament could be lower than projected. Accusations over hotel room block bookings The report also criticizes FIFA for reserving large numbers of hotel rooms in advance. According to the association, this created artificial demand and pushed prices higher in early stages of booking. Later, FIFA cancelled a significant portion of those reservations. Hotel operators say this left gaps in availability and disrupted normal pricing patterns. FIFA has rejected these claims and does not agree with the criticism. Other factors behind weak demand Hotels say several issues are discouraging visitors. High ticket prices for matches are one concern. Expensive local transport and taxes are also adding pressure. Some operators also point to political tensions as another reason international travel interest has slowed. Economic outlook remains uncertain With lower bookings and mixed signals from ticket sales, the hospitality sector is now unsure about the World Cup’s overall economic benefit. Many hotels are preparing for weaker-than-expected revenue during the tournament period.

The most common reason for women giving birth on their backs Birthing in a traditional upright position is no longer the norm Women have been giving birth to their babies in upright positions for thousands of years. The upright positions were chosen to support the flow of childbirth and the way the body naturally moves. Women are often placed backwards in modern hospitals, particularly those of many countries that have developed post-industrially. The change in medical practice, rather than human preference, is the reason for this relatively recent development. Modern practices in childbirth In the 1600s, it became popular to lie down while giving birth. Francois Mauriceau was a French doctor who promoted reclining. Mauriceau believed that it made birth easier and more comfortable for both women and doctors. At this time, pregnant women began to be treated as medical conditions. During this shift, the midwives' role was reduced and male doctors were more involved. Others historians suggest social factors also played a part. According to reports, King Louis XIV preferred to watch births in a more clear manner, and this may have influenced his preference for reclining positions. What upright postures make sense Midwives and experts in birth physiology agree on one thing: gravity is a big help to the process of birthing. Gravity helps the baby move through the birth canal when a woman is upright. During labour, many women choose to squat, kneel, or even lean forward. The positions chosen by women during labour are not at random. They correspond to the way their bodies work. Research on the birth position The benefits of upright positions for birthing are well-documented. Reviewing multiple studies that involved thousands of women, several positive results were found. The women who remain upright throughout labour usually experience: Reduced chances of Cesarean Delivery Epidurals are no longer necessary There are fewer neonatal babies in need of care A shorter workday is another key advantage. Positions that are upright can make contractions more efficient. Experts note also that standing up during birth may help to reduce the use of interventions like forceps or vacuum delivery. Additionally, improved blood flow may improve oxygen delivery to the infant. Limitations and considerations Although upright positions have many benefits, they are not suitable in every circumstance. Certain research has suggested that blood loss may increase, particularly in high-risk pregnancies. Medical guidance is crucial. Healthcare providers evaluate the best approach for each birth based on their individual needs. Choose your birth settings The environment can also influence how women deliver. Women are more inclined to choose upright positions and move around freely in supportive environments like birth centers. In these centres, tools such as birthing balls or stools are often available. In contrast, standard hospital delivery rooms may limit movement. A fixed bed may encourage lying down even when other positions are more natural. The conclusion of the article is: It isn't the only or most common way to give birth. The upright birth position has been part of the human experience for centuries and is supported both by instinct and scientific research. The modern healthcare system continues to find a balance between safety and these natural methods.

Hungary Investigates alleged pipeline sabotage amid tensions surrounding the election Political pressure and energy dependence Hungary is heavily reliant on Russian gas to meet its energy requirements. The TurkStream pipeline supplies gas to Hungary and other nearby countries, such as Slovakia. The TurkStream pipeline is a major factor in keeping Hungary investigates alleged pipeline sabotage amid election tension Energy dependence and political pressure Hungary relies on Russian gas for a large part of its energy needs. It receives between five and eight billion cubic meters of gas each year through the TurkStream pipeline, which also supports nearby countries like Slovakia. This supply plays a key role in keeping energy costs lower for households. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has made energy security a central part of his election campaign. He says cheap Russian oil and gas help protect citizens from rising prices. He also claims that external forces are trying to disrupt these supplies to weaken his government. Orbán has accused a group linked to Kyiv, Brussels, and Berlin of trying to interfere in Hungary’s energy access. He warns that a future government led by opposition figure Péter Magyar could align Hungary with European policies and increase its involvement in the war between Russia and Ukraine. Accusations and political debate Orbán also blamed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for blocking oil supplies to Hungary. He pointed to disruptions in the Druzhba pipeline, which runs through Ukraine. Ukrainian officials responded that Russian attacks caused the damage and said repairs should restore the flow soon. Opposition leader Péter Magyar rejected Orbán’s claims. He described them as fear based political messaging and suggested that advisers linked to Russia may be shaping the narrative. Explosives discovered near key pipeline Tensions increased after Serbian authorities found two backpacks filled with explosives and detonators near the village of Tresnjevac. The site lies close to the point where the TurkStream pipeline enters Hungary from Serbia. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić confirmed the discovery and informed Orbán. He described the explosives as extremely dangerous and said authorities had launched an investigation to find those responsible. Security concerns ahead of elections Security experts warned that the incident could be part of a staged operation designed to influence public opinion. Some analysts believe such actions could increase support for Orbán’s party, Fidesz, or justify emergency measures during the election period. Orbán responded by calling an emergency meeting of Hungary’s National Defence Council. Authorities continue to investigate the situation as concerns grow over national security and political stability. household energy prices low. Nigerian Army Recovers Hostages Following Church Attacks in Kaduna Attack During Easter Worship in Kaduna Armed attackers attacked a church during the Easter festivities in north-west Nigeria. According to security forces, the gunmen took hostages and killed at least five civilians. The initial report of seven fatalities was made by a church official, however the authorities confirmed only five. Military Rescue Operation Nigerian troops responded quickly and engaged in an intense gunfight with the attackers. The troops forced the gunmen back, leaving the hostages behind and bodies of victims. Soldiers successfully freed 31 hostages. The officials stated that it is likely the attackers suffered significant losses in the conflict. As evidence, they pointed out blood trails along the escape route. Additional troops were also sent to the area in order to find the suspects who fled and increase security. The rise of insecurity and kidnappings In northern Nigeria, kidnappings for ransom are common. Violent attacks also continue to be perpetrated. While security problems persist, armed groups, also known as bandits, are still conducting raids. Spain's Pork Industry under Pressure by Swine Fever Threat ASF outbreak causes growing concern among farmers Spanish pig producers are facing pressure following the detection of African Swine Fever in Spain. Jordi Saliveri who runs a Catalonia farm of 8,000 pigs expressed his frustration at the threat to exports and income. He said that importers stop purchasing pork once they are linked to ASF. It has reduced the price of each pig from EUR30-EUR40. This is a serious strain on farmers' finances. What is African Swine Fever? ASF, or African Swine Fever (ASF), is an extremely contagious virus that affects wild boars and pigs. The disease does not affect people. An infected wild boar, discovered in Collserola Park near Barcelona, was the beginning of this outbreak. The authorities immediately restricted the access to this area and began investigations. Officials are still investigating the exact cause of the outbreak, but have already ruled out the nearby research facility. Wild Boar and Spread The wild boar population is a key factor in the spread of this virus. They often travel near urban areas and increase the transmission risk. Oscar Ordeig, regional agriculture minister in the region, warned of serious problems caused by an overpopulation wild animals. These include disease transmission and road accidents. Catalonia has between 120,000 to 180,000 wild boars. The authorities plan to cut this number in half. Culling at Large Scale and Control Measures Around 24,000 wild boars have been killed in this region. Teams of special agents are focusing on high-risk zones in a 6-kilometer radius from the initial cases. Monitoring has been extended to a wider zone of 20 kilometers. To track down and eliminate infected animals, officials use traps, drones, cameras and controlled weapons. Each captured animal was tested for ASF and, by the end of March, there were 232 confirmed cases. Strict Safety and Containment Measures The authorities have taken strict measures in order to stop the spread of this virus. This includes movement restrictions, fences, and the regular disinfection and cleaning of footwear, equipment and vehicles used in affected regions. The steps taken are intended to prevent any further damage and protect the Spanish pork industry. It is the biggest in the world.

DR Congo agrees to accept US deportees under new migration deal Even if the migrants are not Congolese, the Democratic Republic of Congo will accept them. The deal was confirmed to have come into force this month by officials. According to the government, it already has a temporary system of reception. The authorities have selected Kinshasa facilities to accommodate the new arrivals. The United States is providing technical and logistical assistance, according to officials. The Congolese government has said that it will bear no financial responsibility under the agreement. There is no plan to return migrants to their home countries However, the government has not revealed how many migrants it intends to deport. Officials addressed the concerns regarding possible forced return to migrants' countries of origin. The statement was clear that such transfers were not planned. Many migrants are afraid of persecution should they be sent back. The agreement was described by the authorities as being part of Congo’s commitment to international co-operation and human dignity. The authorities also stressed the importance of protecting migrant's rights. It is not a permanent migration policy Officials from the Congo have clarified that this scheme is only temporary. The officials said that the scheme is not a permanent relocation strategy, nor does it outsource migration policies. The US State Department has avoided making direct statements about the deal. It reiterated its strong position on border security, reducing illegal migration and tightening the borders. As Part of a Broader US Deportation Strategy Donald Trump, since returning to office in 2017, has implemented a strict policy on immigration. The administration of Donald Trump has deported immigrants to a number of third-country countries. Included are nations from Africa and elsewhere. Eight migrants were recently sent from various African countries to Uganda. Eswatini Ghana and South Sudan are also countries that have agreed to accept deportees. Costs and criticism This approach has been criticized by human rights organizations. Experts question whether deportations to third countries are in accordance with international law. Reports from the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee suggest that by the beginning of 2026, the US government will have likely spent more than $40 million to deport these people. The exact amount is still unknown. In the report, it is also stated that over $32 millions has been given directly to cooperating countries with the US. Rwanda, El Salvador and Equatorial Guinea are among the countries that have received aid. Deals are driven by strategic interests This agreement is made at the same time that US negotiators are negotiating with Congo a deal on minerals. This country has vast reserves of cobalt and other key minerals like copper, tantalum, lithium, and copper. The US also helped to broker a deal for peace between Congo and Rwanda. Implementing this agreement is still difficult.

Memory and brain power can be boosted by exercise Exercise Improves Memory Short sessions of exercise can boost your memory. Walking quickly or cycling for just a few moments can improve your memory. Exercise is useful for studying, revising or remembering important information. Aerobic Exercise: Its Role Aerobic exercise such as running, walking or cycling plays an important role in improving cognitive function. Physical activity is not only good for the mind, but it also protects against age-related decline. This keeps the brain healthy and sharpens thinking abilities. Hippocampus Strengthening Exercise can have a significant impact on memory-related brain tissue, such as the hippocampus. Moderate exercise performed several times per week has been shown to increase this area's size. Memory storage and retrieval are improved by a larger, more active hippocampus. The timing of an exercise is important Exercise timing can influence the memory. According to studies, taking a stroll four hours after acquiring new knowledge can help improve your memory. Exercise immediately following learning is not as beneficial. However, light stretching does not improve memory. Brain Activity and Ripples Researchers studied the brain's activity following exercise. They found that there were small electrical bursts between neurons. They help to organize and store memory. These signals are also present during quiet sleep or sleeping, which is a sign of their importance for memory consolidation. What happens after exercise? The hippocampus is more active after a brief workout. Brain activity is more coordinated across regions. The coordination of brain activity helps to strengthen the way memories are stored and formed. This process, according to researchers, is the reason why exercising improves memory and learning.
