China Urges Quick Reopening of Strait of Hormuz Amid Iran Talks Beijing Pushes for De escalation and Safe Maritime Routes China has called for the Strait of Hormuz to reopen as quickly as possible during high level discussions with Iran. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the appeal in Beijing during talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi. This was Araqchi’s first visit to China since the Iran war began. Wang Yi stressed that reducing tensions is now an urgent priority. He said a lasting ceasefire must be achieved and both sides should continue negotiations instead of returning to conflict. China also expressed readiness to support efforts aimed at calming the situation. Focus on Peace Talks and Regional Stability During the meeting, Wang Yi highlighted that reopening negotiations is essential for long term stability. He encouraged all parties to avoid further escalation and return to diplomatic solutions. Chinese officials said Beijing supports dialogue between Iran and other global powers, including the United States. China also stated that it appreciates Iran’s position against developing nuclear weapons. Iranian officials, in return, said cooperation between China and Iran will continue to grow stronger in the coming years. Strait of Hormuz and Global Energy Concerns The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most important oil transport routes in the world. It has faced disruptions due to ongoing tensions, including restrictions placed by both Iran and the United States. China emphasized the importance of keeping this route open for global trade. Wang Yi said the international community expects safe and normal navigation to be restored as soon as possible. Beijing also criticized actions that restrict maritime access, calling them harmful to fragile peace efforts in the region. China Energy Dependence and Diplomatic Role China remains one of the largest buyers of Iranian oil, despite existing sanctions from the United States. In 2025, China imported around 1.38 million barrels of crude oil per day from Iran, which accounts for a significant share of its total imports. Because of this dependence, stability in the Strait of Hormuz is a major concern for Beijing. Chinese leaders have taken a cautious diplomatic approach and continue to encourage negotiations instead of military escalation. Global Political Context The discussions come shortly before a planned meeting between the United States president and China’s leadership. The Iran conflict and security of global shipping routes are expected to be part of those talks. Former remarks from the United States leadership suggested that China has not directly challenged US positions in the region. However, tensions around maritime security and energy supply remain a key global concern.

Kim Ju Ae’s Style and What It Signals About North Korea’s Future Leadership Early Public Appearance and Rising Visibility Kim Ju Ae first appeared in state media in November 2022. She was seen standing beside North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during a missile event. She wore a white padded jacket and black trousers. Her hair was neatly tied back. She was very young at the time, believed to be around nine years old. Even then, her appearance looked carefully planned for public display. Increasing Role in State Events Since her first appearance, Ju Ae has been seen more often in public. She now appears at missile tests, military parades, and official ceremonies. Reports suggest she is around 13 years old today. She is no longer shown casually. Each appearance places her close to major military and political moments. This pattern suggests a growing role in state messaging. Clothing as Political Messaging Her clothing choices appear highly controlled. Analysts believe the Propaganda and Agitation Department likely decides her outfits. At times, she wears formal suits and skirts similar to her mother Ri Sol Ju. These outfits create a mature and composed image. They also help reduce attention on her young age. In other appearances, she wears leather jackets and more rugged clothing. These styles match military environments and public events linked to defense activities. Her outfits also visually align with Kim Jong Un, who often wears dark leather jackets and coats. This creates a coordinated family image in public view. Signals of Possible Succession Planning Some South Korean intelligence assessments suggest she may be prepared for a future leadership role. Her growing visibility supports that view. However, experts remain cautious. Her public image may also be part of broader propaganda strategy rather than confirmed succession planning. Key Takeaway Ju Ae’s clothing, presence, and positioning in events appear carefully designed. Her image blends youth with authority. It may reflect how North Korea is shaping public perception around leadership continuity.

Met Gala Looks Inspired by Famous Artworks The Met Gala is known for turning fashion into a form of living art. Held every year on the first Monday of May, it celebrates the opening of the Costume Institute exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s theme, “Fashion is Art,” encouraged guests to express their personal connection between clothing and artistic expression. Celebrities arrived in bold, creative outfits that reflected famous artworks from history. Each look told a visual story shaped by painters, sculptors, and cultural symbols. Rosé Channels Georges Braque’s “The Birds” Rosé, member of Blackpink and a New Zealand born singer, wore a simple yet elegant black strapless gown designed by Saint Laurent under Anthony Vaccarello. The dress appeared minimal at first glance, but the inspiration behind it added depth and meaning. Her outfit took cues from Georges Braque’s artwork The Birds (1952–53). The design included a striking bird shaped brooch, which became the highlight of her look. This detail directly connected the outfit to Braque’s artistic style and symbolism. Rosé worked closely with stylist Law Roach, often called an “image architect,” to shape the final concept. Together, they studied Saint Laurent’s past collections, including designs from spring 1998 and spring 2002 couture. During this process, they discovered how Yves Saint Laurent frequently used bird motifs, which helped refine the final direction. She later shared that the look combined classic Saint Laurent elegance with artistic storytelling inspired by fashion history and fine art. How Art Shaped the Met Gala Theme The Met Gala theme encouraged designers and celebrities to treat fashion as more than clothing. Instead, outfits became interpretations of paintings, sculptures, and historical references. Each look aimed to reflect the human body as an artistic subject across different eras. From bold symbolism to subtle references, the red carpet became a space where art history and modern fashion blended together.

Oleshky civilians face isolation amid ongoing conflict In southern Ukraine, residents of Oleshky remain trapped in worsening conditions as access routes become increasingly dangerous and supplies grow scarce. Locals describe a city struggling to survive with limited food, medicine, and basic services. Life under constant danger and shortages Ludmilla, a resident who spoke by phone, says her home has been heavily damaged by fire and she now stays on the rooftop of her house. She explains that movement in and out of the city has become extremely risky due to mined roads and ongoing threats. She says the community feels cut off from regular supplies. Many families now depend on occasional aid deliveries or whatever they can find inside abandoned homes nearby. The population has dropped significantly, with around two thousand people believed to still remain in the city. Most of them are elderly or unable to leave safely. Rising hunger and survival struggles Food shortages continue to shape daily life in Oleshky. Residents rely heavily on basic items like pasta and canned goods. Some people have started foraging through empty houses to find anything edible or useful. Ludmilla explains that even when aid reaches the city, prices can be very high. This makes essential supplies difficult to afford for many families already struggling to survive. The dangerous route known as the Road of Death Locals refer to the main escape path as the Road of Death. The name reflects widespread fears about landmines and life threatening risks along the route. People who consider leaving must take a serious gamble, as reports of explosions and unsafe terrain discourage most attempts. For many residents, staying inside the city feels safer than trying to escape. Limited humanitarian access Aid groups and volunteers have managed to deliver some supplies despite the challenges. In some cases, food and essentials have reached central points in the city, where elderly residents gather to collect them. Even so, deliveries remain inconsistent. Humanitarian officials warn that the situation continues to worsen as access remains restricted. Human rights concerns grow Ukraine’s human rights officials have described the situation as a developing humanitarian crisis. They highlight concerns about limited access to food, medicine, and safe evacuation routes. Residents continue to rely on uncertain aid deliveries while facing ongoing risks from damaged infrastructure and unexploded dangers in surrounding areas.

Oil Prices Fall and Global Stocks Surge on Iran US Peace Deal Talks Market Reaction After Peace Deal Reports Oil prices dropped sharply after reports suggested the United States and Iran are close to an agreement to end the conflict. At the same time, global stock markets moved higher as investors reacted to hopes of stability. Brent crude fell to 97 dollars per barrel after earlier reaching above 108 dollars. Prices later showed some recovery but stayed under pressure. Before the conflict, oil was near 70 dollars per barrel. Stock Markets Rally Worldwide Major stock markets gained strongly on the news. London shares rose more than 2 percent, while Germany saw similar growth. France climbed around 3 percent during the same trading session. Asian markets also closed higher. South Korea increased by more than 6 percent. Hong Kong rose slightly above 1 percent, and Japan gained modestly. Strait of Hormuz Remains Key Risk The conflict has heavily disrupted global energy supply. Iran has threatened shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz, a key passage for global oil and gas transport. Around one fifth of global oil shipments normally pass through this route. Tensions have reduced supply and pushed energy prices higher since the start of the conflict. Global Market Picture European stock markets are still below levels seen before the conflict began. In contrast, the United States market index remains stronger than earlier in the year. Some Asian markets have gained overall since the start of the crisis, while others remain slightly down.

Player Boycott Threat Grows as Tennis Stars Push for Fairer Prize Money Top players demand bigger share from Grand Slams World number one Aryna Sabalenka has said that tennis players may eventually boycott a Grand Slam tournament if their concerns over prize money and decision making are not addressed. She believes collective action could become necessary if talks continue to stall. Sabalenka said players feel they deserve a larger share of revenue from the four majors. She also pointed to concerns about scheduling and limited influence in key tournament decisions. Her comments came during the Italian Open in Rome, where she stressed that players are central to the sport’s success. Growing unity among top-ranked stars Sabalenka was not alone in raising the issue. Coco Gauff supported the idea of a boycott if all players agree to act together. She said real change would only happen if the group moved as one, similar to players in other major sports who formed unions to negotiate better conditions. Elena Rybakina also said she would follow the majority decision, even if she is not directly involved in the campaign. Jessica Pegula, however, expressed doubts about strike action, saying players value the Grand Slams too much to skip them. Concerns over prize money distribution Players are unhappy with recent prize money increases at major tournaments. At the French Open, the prize pool rose by 9.5 percent, which players argue is still below the share they believe they deserve from overall revenue. In contrast, the US Open increased its prize fund by 20 percent, while the Australian Open raised it by nearly 16 percent. Wimbledon is expected to announce its updated figures soon. Negotiation versus boycott debate While some players are open to stronger action, others prefer continued discussion. Iga Swiatek said a boycott would be too extreme and emphasized the importance of communication with tournament organizers. She believes structured talks could lead to better outcomes without disrupting the sport. Many players agree that negotiation should remain the first step, even as pressure for change continues to grow.
