Arrest Following Fatal Incident
British TikTok influencer Brooke George, 23, is facing a murder charge in Dubai after a fatal stabbing involving her boyfriend. Authorities arrested the Kent native on June 22 and later charged her with premeditated murder.
If convicted, George could face the death penalty under the United Arab Emirates legal system. The case has attracted international attention due to her claim that she acted in self-defense during an alleged domestic violence incident.
Self-Defense Claim at Center of Case
According to advocacy organization Detained in Dubai, George says she used a kitchen knife while trying to protect herself during a violent confrontation with her partner.
The group claims the couple met online and later traveled together to Dubai. George reportedly alleged that her boyfriend became increasingly controlling during their relationship. She also claimed he physically assaulted her, withheld her passport, and prevented her from leaving the country.
The organization argues that authorities should treat the case as one involving domestic violence rather than premeditated murder. It has called for George’s release on bail while legal proceedings continue.
Allegations of Mistreatment in Custody
While being held at Bur Dubai Police Station, George reportedly made several allegations regarding her treatment in custody.
She claims officers forced her to remove her clothing in front of male police personnel without a female officer present. George described the experience as humiliating and emotionally distressing.
Authorities in Dubai have not publicly responded to those allegations.
Mother Describes Daughter’s Fear
George’s mother, Thereza George, said she noticed a significant change in her daughter’s behavior during her second visit to Dubai.
She explained that Brooke appeared unusually quiet and withdrawn in the days before the incident. According to her mother, this behavior was very different from her normally cheerful personality.
The night before the fatal incident, the couple reportedly visited a bar in Dubai. Shortly afterward, George contacted her mother in a highly distressed state.
Her mother said Brooke was crying uncontrollably and appeared terrified. She also noticed that one of her daughter’s eyes was swollen and beginning to close.
“Thereza George said she had never seen her daughter so frightened and remains deeply concerned about her welfare while she remains in custody.”
UK Government Providing Support
The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed that it is supporting a British woman detained in the UAE. Officials are also providing assistance to her family during the ongoing legal process.
The case remains under investigation, and Dubai authorities have not announced a trial date.
Ongoing Legal Battle
The Brooke George Dubai murder case continues to raise questions about self-defense claims, domestic violence allegations, and legal protections for foreign nationals in the UAE.
As legal proceedings move forward, attention will remain focused on whether the court accepts George’s account of events and how the evidence will shape the final outcome.
