Livestream Ends In Fatal Shooting
A Mexican influencer, César Gastélum, has been shot dead while livestreaming on social media.
Gastélum was filming with two friends outside a fast food restaurant in Tres Ríos, in the northern city of Culiacán, on Tuesday evening when when two men on a motorbike drove up to him and one shot him at close range.
He had more than half a million followers on TikTok and mainly uploaded comedy videos.
It is not the first time a social media influencer has been killed in Mexico.
On the livestream, Gastélum and his friends were wearing bright orange coats and bags typically used by delivery drivers.
Gunmen Escape After Influencer Killing
According to local media, authorities initially thought the victim was a delivery driver based on their attire. But they were subsequently informed of his true identity.
The area has been blocked off by police and forensic specialists. Who are searching for evidence in the CCTV video and cartridge casings.
The two individuals on the motorcycle left the scene, and no arrests have been made thus far.
He frequently posted photos of his vacations, evenings out, and poses in front of expensive automobiles on his Instagram account.
He was shown visiting the tomb of “El Gordo Peruci,” an influencer named Leobardo Aispuro, in one of his postings.
