The punishment takes effect immediately and pushes Leicester down the Championship table. The Foxes drop from 17th to 20th place and now sit just outside the relegation zone on goal difference. The decision comes at a difficult time for the club, both on and off the pitch. Why Leicester Were Penalised The Premier League charged Leicester in May for breaching profit and sustainability rules. The case covered the three year period ending in the 2023 to 2024 season. Under PSR rules, Premier League clubs cannot lose more than one hundred and five million pounds across three seasons. However, the allowed loss decreases by twenty two million pounds for every season spent outside the top division. Leicester spent part of that period in the Championship, which lowered their permitted spending limit. Club Losses Explained Leicester’s financial records show heavy losses over recent years. For the year ending June 30, 2024, the club reported a loss of nineteen point four million pounds. In the 2022 to 2023 season, Leicester confirmed losses of eighty nine point seven million pounds. The year before that, up to May 2022, the club recorded a record loss of ninety two point five million pounds. These figures do not include allowed adjustments. Clubs can exclude certain costs, such as stadium development and investment in women’s football, which both leagues consider beneficial to the sport. Leicester Responds to the Decision Leicester City strongly criticised the ruling. The club described the six point deduction as unfair and excessive. In an official statement, Leicester said the commission reduced the original punishment requested by the Premier League. However, the club believes the final decision still ignores key mitigating factors. Leicester confirmed they are reviewing the ruling carefully and weighing their next steps. The club also stressed its commitment to fair and transparent processes. On Field Struggles Continue The points deduction adds pressure to an already tough season. Leicester have failed to win their last four Championship matches and lost three of them. The club also remain without a permanent manager. Leicester dismissed Marti Cifuentes in January, leaving Andy King in charge as interim head coach. King will lead the team against Birmingham City on Saturday as Leicester fight to move clear of the relegation battle.

Australian police say they have identified a suspect in the disappearance of four year old Gus Lamont, who went missing from a remote sheep station in South Australia. Gus was last seen on 27 September playing outside his family home at Oak Park station, near the small town of Yunta. The property sits around 300 kilometres from Adelaide and is surrounded by harsh outback terrain. Child Vanishes From Remote Property According to police, Gus was under the care of his grandmother at the time. She left him alone for about thirty minutes before checking on him again. When she returned, the boy was gone. The family reported him missing soon after. Police launched one of the largest land and air searches ever carried out in the state. Search teams covered nearly 470 square kilometres around the station. That area is about twice the size of Edinburgh. Despite weeks of effort, officers found no trace of the child. Search Scaled Back as Investigation Shifted By late October, police reduced the active search. They then formed a twelve member taskforce to focus on the investigation. The team reviewed earlier statements from family members and others linked to the property. During this process, investigators noticed several gaps and conflicts in the timeline of Gus’s disappearance. Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke said these issues led police to focus on a person who lives at Oak Park station. That individual has now stopped cooperating with investigators. Parents Not Considered Suspects Police stressed that Gus’s parents are not suspects. Fielke said officers want to be clear on this point, as public attention around the case continues to grow. He added that the focus remains on finding out what happened to the child. In January, police searched the property again. They seized several items, including a vehicle, a motorcycle, and electronic devices. Investigators continue to examine these materials. Theories Narrowed by Police At the start of the case, police explored three main possibilities. They considered whether Gus walked away, was abducted, or was harmed by someone he knew. Given the isolation of the area, officers ruled out abduction. They also found no evidence to support the idea that the boy simply wandered off. This led police to believe that someone familiar with Gus may be involved in his disappearance and possible death. Police Vow to Continue Investigation Fielke said the investigation remains active and thorough. He added that nothing has been ruled out. Police say their goal is to find Gus and give his family answers. Officers remain determined to reach a conclusion, no matter how long it takes.

Despite bringing notes, he rarely looked down while speaking for half an hour. Background and Arrest Høiby’s trial coincides with scrutiny of his mother, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, for exchanging messages with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The royal palace confirmed she postponed a private trip amid the controversy. Høiby was arrested in August 2024 after a violent incident at his girlfriend’s flat, where he allegedly threw a knife, damaged property, and abused her verbally. Following a lengthy investigation, he was charged with multiple offences, including rape, assault, threatening behavior, drugs offences, and driving violations. If convicted, he could face at least ten years in prison. Courtroom Appearance On the second day of the trial, Høiby appeared in a dark blue sweater over a beige shirt. He focused on the judges and did not glance at the alleged victims seated nearby. He recounted meeting one of the women at a party in 2018, admitting he had taken cocaine for the first time that night.
