Dubai is stepping into the future of urban mobility with the successful test flight of its electric-powered air taxi, a move that could drastically reduce traffic congestion in the city.

Developed in partnership with US-based Joby Aviation, the sleek, ultra-quiet aircraft completed its maiden journey from Margham, a key industrial hub, to Dubai World Central (Al Maktoum Airport), ahead of the Dubai Airshow 2025. Capable of speeds up to 320 km/h and carrying four passengers, the eco-friendly air taxi promises a fast, sustainable, and efficient transport alternative.

The next phase will see trial flights across Dubai’s urban areas before the service becomes available to the public in 2026. To support this futuristic transport system, Skyports Infrastructure is constructing the city’s first air taxi vertiport near Dubai International Airport, featuring modern passenger facilities and two dedicated landing pads.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) briefed Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on the project, which aligns with the city’s vision for a smart, integrated, and sustainable transport network.
