Police in Central Java, Indonesia have arrested a 40 year old man, Purwadi Wahyudi, over the alleged killing of his mother in law. Authorities say he sent poisoned chicken satay to her home after feeling disrespected by her.
The victim, identified as Aminah, was 57 years old. Investigators believe the food delivery was part of a planned attack.
How the Alleged Poisoning Happened
According to police, Purwadi ordered chicken satay on 18 May. He is accused of mixing the food with rat poison and toxic chemicals before sending it to Aminah through a courier service.
Detectives say he also tried to hide his identity by using a delivery app account under his sister in law’s name and photo. He then arranged the delivery to appear as if it came from someone else.
Police added that the accused also attempted to mislead investigators by shifting suspicion toward his sister in law.
Discovery and Investigation
Aminah was later found dead at her home. Her body showed signs of vomiting and unusual circumstances that raised concern among family members.
After the burial, relatives suspected that her death was not natural. They informed police, which led to further investigation.
Her body was later exhumed for forensic examination. Medical tests showed signs of poisoning in major organs along with traces of toxic substances.
A neighbour also reported unusual activity near the home, including dead chickens near a coop.
Police Findings
Investigators stated that the case showed signs of careful planning. The delivery driver also became suspicious during the process, as the person behind the order did not match the expected identity.
The satay seller further noted that the packaging appeared different at the time of delivery, which added to doubts about tampering.
Police have detained Purwadi as a suspect. He has not yet been formally charged with murder. Under Indonesian law, murder cases can carry severe penalties, including long prison sentences or capital punishment.
Legal Status
Authorities are continuing the investigation to confirm intent, method, and motive. The case remains under review as forensic and digital evidence is examined.
