Situation in Tyre, Lebanon
Israeli forces launched air and artillery strikes across southern Lebanon, including the coastal city of Tyre. One strike hit a residential building close to the seafront area. The attacks came even after Iran warned Israel to stop its operations in Lebanon.
Casualties and Damage
Health officials in Lebanon reported that at least eight people were killed in Tyre. Other reports from Lebanese media said total deaths across southern areas reached at least thirteen on Tuesday. A drone strike near Kfar Roummane also killed two people close to Nabatieh.
Evacuation Orders in the City
The Israeli military ordered residents in Tyre and nearby areas to leave immediately. People were told to move beyond the Zahrani River, about 30 kilometers to the north. For the first time, the evacuation warning also included the Christian quarter of the city. Authorities said armed groups linked to Hezbollah were active in the area.
Roads heading out of the city became crowded. Many families left quickly with their belongings tied to cars.
Voices from Residents
Residents described fear and confusion as they moved away from their homes. Some questioned the strikes and evacuation orders. One man traveling to Beirut asked what wrong they had done and why civilians were being forced to leave.
Another resident heading toward Sidon said he did not believe the claims about armed activity in his area and called the situation unfair.
Rising Regional Tensions
The situation follows a temporary pause in hostilities between Israel and Iran after recent exchanges of strikes. Earlier attacks on Beirut targeting Iran linked groups triggered renewed fighting between the sides.
Iran warned that further strikes on Lebanon could lead to retaliation. Israel said it would continue its campaign against Hezbollah despite the warnings.
The wider conflict is also affecting diplomatic efforts involving the United States and President Donald Trump, who has been linked to attempts to reduce tensions in the region.
