Despite being eligible, more than 7 million Pakistanis over the age of 18 have not yet received national identity cards, according to a Friday statement from the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra).
Details revealed on Friday indicate that this pervasive oversight has given scammers opportunities, especially when it comes to cases where Afghan nationals have been unlawfully added to family trees using falsified evidence.
According to the Nadra’s archives, these people have legitimate documents such as birth certificates, B-forms, or entries in Union Councils. However, their identities have not been nationally validated due to the lack of a Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).
