Hours after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the unrest-plagued northeastern state, Manipur saw a strike and protests on Sunday.
PM Modi visited the volatile state of Manipur on Saturday for the first time since ethnic riots there two years ago claimed the lives of over 250 people.
During the PM’s visit, Manipur University students demonstrated and yelled “Go Back Modi.”
Numerous people were hurt when police used tear gas and rubber bullets on the nonviolent demonstrators.
