RAWALPINDI: According to a Sunday report from Geo News, the district administration of Rawalpindi has decided to extend the imprisonment of Ali Wazir, a former member of the National Assembly, by 15 days.
The Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) leader has been the target of an MPO 3 issued by the Rawalpindi deputy commissioner, which gives the government the authority to detain and arrest suspects.
The politician was charged with terrorism and is currently being held in the Adiala jail in Rawalpindi.
Prior to this, Wazir was to be detained from September 4 to September 19 according to directives from the district administration. He will stay behind bars until October 4 while operating under the new directives.
In the meantime, the PTM leader’s attorneys have filed a case against the MPO orders with the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court.
