Late Thursday night, downtown Kabul was jolted by two huge explosions.
Residents were alarmed by the explosions, which happened at approximately 9:50 p.m. local time, but authorities later said that everything was under control.
In central Kabul, witnesses reported hearing two booms in quick succession, accompanied by vibrations that were loud enough to shake residences in the vicinity. As sirens sounded around the city, some locals and visitors allegedly took refuge in safe places.
Shockwaves from the explosions were felt inside their home, according to a correspondent for China’s Xinhua News Agency. Residents of Kabul quickly posted about the loud and unexpected explosions on social media.
