Strikes reported across Simferopol and Kerch
Russian backed authorities in occupied Crimea have reported that at least four people died after a series of Ukrainian strikes. Officials said three people were killed and seven injured in Simferopol after explosions hit what they described as non residential facilities. Local authorities also reported damage to a fuel depot, which Kyiv has linked to its wider campaign against Russian military supply infrastructure.
In a separate incident, one person died and three others were injured when a commuter train travelling toward Kerch was struck. Crimean leadership claimed the attack targeted civilian transport, while Ukraine has not confirmed direct responsibility for either incident.
Ukraine response and military claims
Ukrainian officials did not directly acknowledge the strikes. They stated that Ukraine only targets military related sites and accused Russia of spreading misleading information about the situation on the ground. Kyiv has repeatedly argued that its operations inside occupied areas are aimed at weakening Russia’s military capacity.
Wider escalation across occupied regions
The latest events come during an increase in drone activity across Russian controlled territories. Ukraine has expanded strikes on supply routes and fuel infrastructure in occupied regions. Authorities in Crimea have reported fuel shortages, along with restrictions on fuel sales in Sevastopol due to supply disruption.
Strikes reported deeper inside Russia
Ukraine has also intensified operations inside Russia. Reports indicate drone activity near St Petersburg, shortly before a major economic forum in the city.
