According to “NFL on CBS” presenter Jim Nantz, the popular tight end in the NFL had a bet with his quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, during their respective college teams’ game on Saturday. Cincinnati, where Kelce played from 2006 to 2010, lost to Texas Tech, where Mahomes played from 2014 to 16.
“[Kelce] and Mahomes, they have such a friendship and chemistry,” analyst Jim Nantz remarked while the Chiefs defeated the Chargers 17–10 on Sunday. “Last night, they all came in to meet with us.
They were all looking forward to returning on Saturday night to watch their two alma mater teams, Texas Tech and Cincinnati, play. It was an incredible game that Texas Tech won 44-41. Bearcats failed to make a 50-yard field goal.
On the final play of the game, the Bearcats missed a 50-yard field goal. They had a small side bet, of course.
Nantz stated that Mahomes would have to show up to his next team press conference wearing a Cincinnati jersey and the mascot’s head if the Bengals prevailed. But as a result of Texas Tech’s victory, Kelce will now have to appear on his brother Jason Kelce’s podcast, “New Heights,” wearing a Red Raiders jersey and a mascot head.
Kelce will not be the first person to have to appear in public wearing a mascot head following a loss in a wager. In October last season, Kelce lost a bet with Chiefs Vice President of Communications Brad Gee. Kelce wagered on Cincinnati to defeat Illinois State under Gee.
