BTS Skip 2027 Grammy Awards
The Korean pop group BTS has declared that their songs will not be considered for the 2027 Grammy Awards.
According to a translation of the statement, “We have decided not to enter the Grammys this year.” “I hope that music can be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language.”
After their return album, Arirang, became one of the year’s best-selling records. It was generally anticipated that the band would compete for several of the major Grammy categories, including album of the year.
BTS Fans Question Grammy Rules
However, it would not have qualified for the new best Asian pop music performance award. Which was revealed last month, due to the English-language lyrics.
Grammy regulations require “multi-meaning” of an Asian language in songs that are nominated for the category. On Arirang, more than 80% of the lyrics are performed in English.
Online K-Pop communities have conflicting reactions to the new award’s launch.
Many fans expressed dissatisfaction about the Grammys’ pigeonholing of Asian performers rather than their celebration.

They sent a message to their supporters, known as the BTS Army, as they concluded their declaration.
The group expressed gratitude to the Army and everyone who always supports them.
The ceremony’s organizer, the Recording Academy, has not yet replied. They have been contacted by news for a statement.

Some members of the BTS army have expressed their sadness that the group would not be attending the awards to news 1’s Newsbeat.
“What a shame.” It’s such a tragedy,” says fan Ashia Davies, 27, who attended the group’s recent comeback tour in London. “”I am aware that BTS adores the Grammy Awards,” she says.
