The 12-member committee was established by the former ruling party to bring up human rights concerns with the international community, just hours after PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were convicted guilty in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case.
PTI Addition Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi announced on Friday that Asad Qaiser, a former speaker of the National Assembly, will serve as the head of the “Human Rights Committee.”
In addition to Qaiser, the 12-member committee included Raoof Hasan, Aliya Hamza, Zulfi Bukhari, and Qasim Khan Suri. According to the notification, the organization would investigate issues pertaining to human rights throughout the nation.
It is important to note that the 71-year-old politician and former cricket player has been incarcerated since August of last year following his sentencing in Toshakhana case-I.
