LONDON: The International Cricket Council named India’s Jasprit Bumrah the 2024 men’s Test cricketer of the year on Monday.
After a protracted break due to a back ailment, the right-arm fast made a comeback to the five-day format in late 2023.
The 31-year-old Bumrah topped the statistics with 71 wickets in 2024, much ahead of England’s Gus Atkinson, who came in second with 52 in 11 games.
He finished 2024 with a strike rate of just 30.1, and his year-over-year average was an incredible 14.92.
“Test cricket has always been a format I hold close to my heart, and to be recognised on this platform is truly special,” Bumrah said.
