Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has asked the UN for assistance in combating cross-border terrorism from Afghanistan as Pakistan struggles with a spike in militant attacks.
A Foreign Office statement on Wednesday said that Deputy PM Dar made the comments during a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres in New York.
Dar emphasized Afghan cross-border terrorism during the conference and requested UN assistance in combating terrorism both inside and outside of Afghanistan.
According to the statement, he also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to aiding the millions of impoverished Afghans and advancing its economic growth, notably by putting connectivity projects between Central Asia and Pakistan through Afghanistan into action.
