The last step in an agreement to repatriate fallen soldiers is the exchange of dead corpses between Russia and Ukraine.
According to Kyiv, Moscow turned over 1,245 bodies on Monday, increasing the number of bodies in recent days to 6,057. It stated that it was now confirming that all of the bodies belonged to Ukrainian forces.
A total of 6,060 bodies were transferred to Ukraine by Russia. Additionally, it stated that 78 Russian soldiers’ bodies had been sent home.
Russia is allegedly “deliberately complicating” the identification procedure, according to Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko. “Bodies are returned in an extremely mutilated state, parts of [the same] bodies are in different bags,” he stated.
