After turning himself in to the authorities on Thursday, LSU running back Trey Holly was charged with second-degree murder.
Holly was one of three people taken into custody following a gunshot at an apartment building in Union Parish, Louisiana, on February 9.
ESPN reports that Holly is also accused with serious criminal damage to property and unlawful use of a weapon.
According to an LSU statement provided to news, Holly has been “suspended indefinitely” from the team.
As a result of a gunshot in Union Parish, we are aware that a student-athlete has been placed under custody. In compliance with departmental standards, this student-athlete has been suspended from all team activities for an undetermined period of time. We won’t be making any more comments because we respect the legal system,” the school stated.
According to The Advocate, a woman who had been shot three times was in critical condition. Moreover, a man was shot in the leg. There had been fights in the facility earlier, and three shooters opened fire.
This season, Holly had three appearances for the Tigers. On October 21, he scored 91 yards versus Army, earning him the title of SEC Freshman of the Week. A 67-yard touchdown set up the majority of those yards.

He had broken Louisiana’s all-time rushing record and was ranked as the No. 4 running back in the country when he graduated from high school last year.
Holly participated in five years of high school athletics, joining the varsity team in his eighth year.
