Sen. Joe Manchin, D-WV, announced his decision not to run for president, but the No Labels organization says it is still exploring possibilities for a third-party nominee.
“We are speaking with a number of outstanding leaders. Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, national co-chair of No Labels, stated on MSNBC’s “The Weekend” on Sunday that “we have our own internal process.”
“We will likely announce in the coming weeks or so whether or not we will allow a unity ticket to be on the ballot,” said Chavis, a lifelong civil rights advocate and former NAACP executive director. “A Republican and a Democrat make together a unity ticket. Additionally, we are conversing with independents, Democrats, and Republicans.”
Chavis refuted co-host Michael Steele’s claim that it would be difficult for No Labels or any third-party ticket to win in November by stating that the team has already qualified on the ballot in 16 states ahead of the 2024 election and is currently striving to qualify for all 50.
Joe McCarthy will not introduce a third-party presidential candidate.
It’s an arduous, drawn-out procedure. Furthermore, we’re happy with the voter access we’ve had thus far. And we will not stop pressing,” he declared.
