RAWALPINDI: Incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan directed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Saturday to continue talks for his province’s rights at the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and other federal forums, as well as cooperate with security agencies on security-related issues.
In a statement, KP government spokesperson Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif revealed that CM Gandapur met with the party’s founder in Adiala Jail earlier today to seek his advice on crucial political issues.
The conference covered topics such as the impending SIFC meeting — a ‘hybrid’ civil-military forum established to lure investment from Gulf countries — Senate elections, the province’s law and order situation, and other matters, according to the spokeswoman.
CM Gandapur also briefed the party founder in detail on his first meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif earlier this week, which was viewed as a significant political development in lowering the country’s political temperature.
Gandpur described his first interaction with Prime Minister Shehbaz as “good and positive” following their meeting on Wednesday.
Following a meeting with the premier, CM Gandapur spoke to reporters, flanked by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and other PML-N leaders. He emphasized the need for political dialogue with the PTI’s incarcerated founder, who has been in prison since August last year on charges ranging from corruption to terrorism.
