ISLAMABAD: A concerted effort has been launched by opposition parties, such as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Sunni Ittehad Council, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, and others, to uphold the supremacy of the Constitution and bring democracy back.
All sides gathered under one roof at a consultative meeting organized by the Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) in Islamabad to safeguard democracy and the Constitution against dangers, since intervention has left both the state system and democracy paralyzed.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Omar Ayub, Asad Qaiser, and Raoof Hasan, as well as Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Abdul Rahim Ziyaratwal, Sardar Shafiq Khan Tareen, and Riaz Khan from the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, were present at the meeting.
The leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami were Amir-ul-Azeem and Liaquat Baloch, whereas Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal, Sajid Khan, and Tarin Parviz Zohoor were among the politicians of the Balochistan National Party.
The conference was attended by Sahibzada Muhammad Raza of SIC and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, Syed Asad Abbas Naqvi, and Nasir Shirazi Mohsin Shehryar of MWM.
The leadership of the opposition parties voiced serious concerns at the conference about the establishment’s growing influence in politics, characterizing it as a danger to the nation’s security and its institutions.
