Born in 1980 in Stockport, Ms. Rayner grew up in a council estate. At 16, she dropped out of school without a diploma and became pregnant with her first child.
She claims that someone warned her that she would “never amount to anything”.
“My mother couldn’t read or write, so when I was little, we didn’t have books,” Ms. Rayner stated in a interview.
