There’s Still Tomorrow: The picture which beat Barbie at the box office in Italy.

Greta Gerwig's Barbie may be the highest-grossing film of 2023 and the most financially successful film ever directed by a woman, but it lost out at the box office in Italy to another film directed by a woman and specifically about the experiences of women.

That film is called There’s Still Tomorrow (C’è Ancora Domani), and it was directed by Paola Cortellesi, a 50-year-old actress, writer, and singer. The film is currently being released throughout Europe, including the UK. Paola Cortellesi, an actress, singer, and writer, made the film, and as of last month, it had taken in more money than both Barbie and Oppenheimer combined. As of last month, it had earned about £31.5 million in theaters, making it the biggest 2023 film in the nation and the most successful film ever directed by a woman.

Ortellesi says she’s still in shock at the success of it, as she tells News.

“No-one could ever have predicted the wave of participation and affection from audiences over this movie,” she asserts.

“I’ve been a screenwriter for the past ten years and an actress for almost thirty years. At fifty, I made my feature debut. Additionally, it can only be advantageous that Barbie, a well-known movie that likewise explores the lives of women, shares the screen and box office.”
