The Awami Action Committee (AAC) organized a lengthy march on Monday that headed toward Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), as the four-day wheel-jam strike against inflated taxes and power bills began.
Several places along Kohala-Muzaffarabad Road have been closed by protesters through sit-ins. The 40-kilometer road connects Kohala town and Muzaffarabad in the AJK. To get to the capital, the demonstrators are anticipated to travel the same route from Dhirkot.
Following conflicts between protestors and police that broke out in Mirpur during rallies, which resulted in the death of one police officer and the injuries of over seventy others, the government of AJK called in the Rangers and AJK police.
Police have stationed large numbers of officers at intersections and other high-risk areas, like markets, trade centers, and educational institutes remain closed, while transport is suspended.
