After a message from a ministerial group chat leaked on local news sites, First Minister Vaughan Gething stated he had “no alternative” but to ask Hannah Blythyn to quit the Welsh government.
According to a Nation.Cymru news article, Mr Gething wrote a message in August 2020 stating that he was “deleting the messages in this group”.
“They can be captured in a FOI [Freedom of Information request] and I think we are all in the right place on the choice being made,” the statement continued.
The Welsh Labour leader previously informed the UK COVID-19 Inquiry that the Welsh parliament’s IT team destroyed lost WhatsApp conversations as part of a security upgrade.
