The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), which has expressed concerns about security ahead of the polls on February 8, announced on Thursday that it would hold Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja and Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa accountable if attacks occurred against party employees while they were out canvassing.

JUI-F Emir Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated during a news conference in Islamabad that his party was still in shock following the Bajaur blast, which claimed the lives of over 40 workers, and that posters had been placed in cities cautioning people not to attend JUI-F rallies.

“Being cautious about security risks does not imply that we oppose elections. Fazl, whose party was a member of the previous government, stated, “I have fought for elections for more than three years; it is my right that my party is given a good security environment.”

Since the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan brokered a ceasefire with Islamabad and started attacking military soldiers, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, there has been an increase in terrorism in the country of South Asia.

According to data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, there were 623 militant attacks in 2023 as opposed to 380 in 2022. In 2023, there were 29 suicide attacks out of all attacks, compared to 15 in 2022.
