A reduced solar panel scheme was announced by the Sindh government.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, the minister of energy for Sindh, has revealed plans for a new program that will offer solar panels at much reduced costs in the next budget.

The initiative’s goals are to increase solar energy use and reduce energy poverty among Sindh’s lower and middle classes.

According to the provincial minister, the 2019 budget for Sindh would include an initial allocation of Rs 5 billion for solar energy projects.

200,000 solar panels will be distributed as part of this ambitious scheme, with the government paying 80% of the cost and the beneficiaries financing the remaining 20%. The goal of this program is to increase solar energy affordability and accessibility for those who need it most.

Shah emphasized the gravity of the problem by pointing out that 500,000 households in Sindh do not currently have access to electricity. The new solar initiative aims to solve this issue by providing a stable and sustainable energy source.

The government intends to build solar parks and mini-grid stations around the province, including in Karachi, in addition to the cheaper solar panels. Many residents should see a major improvement in their quality of life as a result of these initiatives.

In addition, 100 units of free electricity will be distributed by the provincial government to the general public, which will relieve even more financial strain on low-income families. This program is in line with similar initiatives in other regions, such as Punjab, where free power would be provided to 50,000 households that consume up to 100 units.
