The victims, according to the police, were both men in their 40s.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the incident, which occurred at a remote farm near Killucan in County Westmeath, at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to authorities, one of the victims was from Ireland, and the other is thought to be from eastern Europe.
When the helicopter crashed into a piggery building, both people were inside.
Their bodies have now been sent to Regional Hospital Mullingar, where post-mortem exams will be scheduled, after they were declared dead at the scene.
The Raharney GAA club’s fields are near the piggery structure.
A group of inspectors from the Irish Air Accident Investigation Unit visited the scene of the single-engine helicopter crash.
Simon Harris, the prime minister of Ireland, has voiced his worries on the occurrence.
He posted on X, thinking of everyone involved in the Westmeath helicopter disaster.
“My gratitude and thoughts are with all the emergency services working to help at this time,” he continued.
The Mullingar-Kinnegad municipal district’s mayor, Ken Glynn, has voiced his surprise.
He remarked, “My prayers and thoughts are with those involved and their families.”
